Kenneth W. Stephens
Milford, CT — Kenneth W. Stephens, 95, of Milford, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 9, 2008, at Milford Hospital following a brief battle with pneumonia.

Born on September 24, 1912, in Stratford, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Lawrence L. Stephens and Blanche L. Wright, and stepson of August Felix. Kenneth was the devoted husband of the late Maybelle E. Kraemer and a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed.

Drafted in 1944, he proudly served in the U.S. Army’s 187th Engineer Combat Battalion during World War II. A longtime resident of Milford, Kenneth dedicated much of his life to community service. He served as Chairman of the Milford Council on Aging and as a member of the Board of Directors for the Good Shepherd Day Care Center. He was also an active member and past Chairman of the Visual Arts Committee for the Milford Fine Arts Council.

Deeply involved in his church, Kenneth served as President of the Wildermere Beach Congregational Church Council, later becoming a lifelong trustee and honorary deacon. He was also a former President of the Simon Lake PTA during his children’s school years. Recognized for his engagement at the Milford Senior Center, he was honored as Senior of the Year in 1995.

Kenneth co-founded West Shore Realty in Milford, initially operating the business from his home.

He is survived by his three sons: Kenneth B. Stephens of New York City, Colin W. Stephens and his wife Janet of Seymour, and Michael B. Stephens and his wife Merri of Milford; five grandchildren: Mark Stephens (Christina), Megan Stephens, Bradford Stephens, Nicole Jackson (Anthony), and Fallon Stephens; six great-grandchildren, with two more on the way; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister, Laurel R. Stephens.
