Commendation - From 15th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron for operations against the enemy-held city of Roermond, Holland.

Commendation - From the XVI Corp for well-planned, smoothly executed Rhine River Crossings.

Commendation - From 79th Infantry Division for successful completion of Rhine assault crossings.

SILVER STAR MEDAL

Citation - For gallantry under fire on the Roer river near Roermond, Holland. Gave first aid and helped evacuate a wounded officer to safety across the swiftly flowing current.

Citation - For gallantry under fire during the assault of the Rhine river near Orsay, Germany. Saved four infantrymen from drowning when an assault boat overturned.
