187th ECB Another Soldier moves on Samuel A Franco
Samuel A. Franco, 95, of Easton, PA, passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021, in New Eastwood Healthcare & Rehab Center.
He was born in Easton, PA, a son of the late Antonio and Rosa (Turdo) Franco.
Samuel was married to Virginia M. Franco, until her passing in 2011. He graduated from Easton High School, class of 1942; and Churchman's Business School, class of 1948. Samuel served in the US Army with the 187th Engineer Combat Battalion in the European Theatre during World War II. He retired from the US Postal Service Lehigh Valley Facility in 1985. Before that, he worked as a salesman for L.M. Ralph & Son Furniture and Lipkin Furniture for several years. He was a past Commander of the AM Vets in 1964; and a trumpet player in the Triple City Band for several years.
Samuel was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church; AMVets in Easton; and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE).
Samuel is survived by a son Gordon Franco and his wife Deborah of Easton; a step-daughter Carol A. Picone of Bethlehem Twp.; a brother Joseph Franco of Easton; seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by a stepson Theodore M. Schafer III; a sister Anna Nick; a brother Patrick Franco; and a step-brother Placid Iudicello.
