Charles “Sonny” Young Mitchusson, Sr. was born on July 4, 1923 in Alex, Oklahoma, to Amon Young Mitchusson and Mable Clare (Tarpley) Mitchusson Lance. He passed from this life on May 27, 2018, at the age of 94.

Sonny lived in the Bradley area for most of his life. He graduated from Bradley High School and was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Bradley.

Sonny enlisted in the United States Army to serve his Country during World War II. He served in Company C, second platoon, 187th Engineer Combat Battalion. He received many military decorations and citations for his service which included; World War II Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, EAME Theater Ribbon, Two Bronze Service Stars, and the Army of Occupation Ribbon (Germany).
